Dancing strings of God's Lute - Poetry

I've been inspired for the longest time by the poetry of Hafez, Rumi, Mirabhai and other devotees of the Beloved from different traditions around the world, their tales of longing and separation, their search and their final union.

The below collection consists of; my entreaties to the beloved, moments of union and beyond.

The dancing Strings of God’s Lute

Touched by His fingers again and again.

Warmed by His closeness as He plays.

I never tire of being held close to Him.

I’m perfumed by His breath as He hums along.

The dancing strings of God’s lute sing,

The dancing strings of His lute hum.

They’ll dance a merry tune.

They’ll tread a sombre dirge.

All is welcome

All is equally His play

As long as He leads

The dancing strings of God’s lute

Will weave a merry tune,

Will sing.

I hear you Mother Earth

Why didn't I listen Mother Earth?
This child of yours wounded others to hide my pain.
This child of yours pushed away others to console my loneliness.

I hear you Mother Earth
This child of yours opens my arms to be held
This child of yours gives up sadness and accepts love

I hear you Mother Earth,
This child of yours deserves the roses and not just the thorns
This child of yours wants the sunshine and not just the rain.

I’ll hold up a mirror

 I’ll hold up a mirror

So you can see,

The love in your eyes

And the hope in your heart.

I’ll hold up a mirror

So you can see,

The wisdom of your experiences

And the knowledge in your years.

I’ll hold up a mirror

So you can see,

The song in your soul

And the music in your life.

I’ll hold up a mirror

So you can see,

So you can see the world in yourself

And it’s love in your face.

I’ll hold up a mirror

So I can see,

His love in my eyes

And His light on my face.
