A time and place before words

Why does a boy hide under a table,

What causes him to be lost?

Emotions are older than words

Still we use these brash upstarts

To discern those older animations.

Was there an older darkness,

Where everything was gloomy?

Lost in a murky void

Did a babe, without ken

Find and accept shadows?

In the caliginosity, without words.

Was he given and did he accept;

Loneliness, fear and shame.

Not just as his due but his heritage.

An incomprehensible Ukase.

If so, how does he explain it,

Who makes sense of it,

And who exculpates him?

For what happened

In a time and place before words?
