  1. Grieving

    Come, let us sit and

    Grieve for all manner of things;

    Illusions that never became reality,

    Dreams that never came true.

    Hopes that were thwarted

    And faiths that were broken.

     

    Those of you who can

    Shed a tear

    for what could have been.

    The dry eyed

    Wail in loss.

    So much was promised,

    So much anticipated.

     

    Each rising sun promised

    New beginnings.

    Each shining moon

    endless love.

     

    And, and what’s left?

    An arid desert, which

    not even mirages light.

  2. The gift that you were given

     

    Where is it, the gift that you were given?

    Is it part of your life,

    Or

    Does it languish in a corner forgotten?

     

    What have you done with it, the gift that you were given?

    Is it lighting up lives,

    Or

    Does it hide in the shadows waiting for the right time?

     

    How do you look at it, the gift that you were given?

    Is a pleasure to behold?

    Or

    Does get fleeting glances

     

    When will you accept it, the gift that you were given?

    Is it every morning with thanks,

    Or

    In the dark of shame filled nights.

     

    Why do you contest it, the gift that you were given?

    Is it so you can learn and grow,

    Or

    Does it challenge the lies?

     

    Who gave it to you, the gift that you were given?

    Is it someone who loves you,

    Or

    Does it not matter?
