    There’s no proud declaration,

    Or feigned acquiescence.

    But still you accept it

    This burden of shame.

     

    There’s no moment of victory,

    Or feeling of pride.

    But still you accept it.

    This burden of shame.

     

    There’s no sense of value,

    Or feelings of worth.

    But still you accept it.

    This burden of shame.

     

    There’s no chance of redemption,

    Or possibility of acceptance.

    So you choose to reject it,

    Again and again.

    This burden of shame.

  2. A box full of shame

     

    Somebody gave you

    a box full of shame.

    You don’t know when

    And you don’t know why,

    What will you do?

     

    Somebody gave you

    a box full of shame.

    Should you laugh,

    Or should you cry.

    What would you do?

     

    Somebody gave you

    a box full of shame.

    Sometimes it oozes,

    then it scabs.

    What would you do?

     

    Somebody gave you

    a box full of shame.

    Hold it painfully close

    Or set it blissfully free.

    What would you do?

     

    Somebody gave you

    a box full of shame.

    Accept it’s toxic wounding

    Or begin to heal your soul.

    What would you do?

    Somebody gave me

    a box full of shame.

    First I was shamefully silent,

    Now I shamelessly write.

    That’s what I do
